We flew into Saint Louis on May 11 and immediately went to Iowa to visit my Mom. On the way we stopped at a favorite picnic park near Hannibal, Missouri and enjoyed wild flowers and geese. We stayed that night in Newton and proceded the next day to Iowa Methodist Hospital where Mom was a patient with aspiration pneumonia. She was alert but not talkative. She was able to return home the next day. Over our lunch hour we toured the Iowa Botanical Garden, which was small but nice. After seeing Mom again, I took Rose to what she thought was a most unbelieveable place - Ewing Park in SE Des Moines. The park covers about fifty acres and is primarily a lilac arboretum, which just happened to be in full bloom for her!
