The flowers, which a cactus can produce, are incredible and beautiful. The only sad note is that the flowers last for only a day and wither. They bloom at night and early morning. Our neighbor, Walter, flagged me down early one morning to show me this cactus in bloom. I used my cell phone [for once] to call Rose to get a picture of it. This cactus is about 2.5 feet high ... so you can imagine how big these blooms were - 6 to 9 inches across!

Desert Cactus Flower
