Our Second Fourth on the Third

A year ago tonight Turtle and Rose were visiting cousins in Iowa - Lauren and Sheryl Carter. That night their small Iowa town had one of the best fireworks we have ever seen. Tonight is our second fourth on the third, and it turned out very exciting. After an evening swim, we were watching a storm with much lightning to our east . . . a very impressive heavenly fireworks. Suddenly there was a flash of lightning and thunder right above us. Rose asked, "Is there supposed to be a light in that palm tree? It is on fire, call 911." It was a dangerous, yet amazing, earthly fireworks. Sparks and flames were flying to the west over 56th Avenue. We helped the neighbors spray it with our hoses until the fire truck arrived and blasted it with their hose . . . quite impressive, too . . . I wonder what our pool will look like in the morning? We keep going from one adventure to another!

The palm tree was in the yard of the neighbor to the north . . . in the southwest corner of their yard alongside 56th Avenue. All the debris fell on 56th Avenue. The firemen did spray some kind of foam on it after dousing it with water. Some of the foam got in the pool, but it looks all right today.

The title for this blog sounds like "Who's on First" from Abbott and Costello.

I'm sure Anthony would have loved to have been there to help you put out the fire.
